NOTE DESIGN STUDIO BEHIND NEW SHOWROOM FOR OGEBORG

DESIGN

Note design studio has continued their collaboration with Swedish carpet brand Ogeborg, this year focusing on their showroom rather than their fair stand. With an installation that lasts longer than a temporary stand, the overhaul is called The workshop and is a celebration of calm colours.

"Together, this is a celebration of the materiality, colour and processes behind Ogeborg’s products, creating an ever-evolving space to welcome moments of meeting, exchange and interaction," says Sanna Wåhlin, interior architect at Note Design Studio.

Since the beginning of the 1960’s, Ogeborg has provided their customers with hand tufted and hand woven high quality carpets and textile floors. With their base in Stockholm, Sweden, they have nurtured many fruitful collaborations throughout the years, with designers such as Alexander Lervik, Luca Nichetto and Claesson Koivisto Rune.

When designing the space Note has embraced a limited colour palette inspired by cardboard — a kind of “beige mist” — so the atmosphere of the space changes in response to the different carpets that are present. The custom-made furniture reflects the work processes of the company, taking inspiration from a traditional workshop aesthetic. Tables function as practical and generous work surfaces, rugs hang on display throughout, while the shelves and drawers hold easily accessible fabric samples.

"We started to think about it as a cardboard base, a fog that you step into. A nothingness. You should feel free when you step in there to have your own thoughts and projects in mind," Wåhlin says.

The showroom is located on Maria Skolgata 81, Södermalm, Stockholm.
